Chelsea Murray Kaneb
Chelsea has a degree in International Communications from Marist College, and a yoga teaching certification though Yoga Alliance. After college she worked for her dad’s newspaper, The Waterbury Observer. In 2012, she moved to Worcester County, Massachusetts to work at a nonprofit learning center, teaching kids and adults about sustainable agriculture and global justice. She started The Hummingbird Cafe in 2016, selling smoothies made with a human-powered cycle blender. She worked as a barista at New Morning Market in Woodbury, and a teacher’s assistant at the Montessori School of Greater Hartford. In June 2019, she opened a physical cafe space in Torrington with her husband Mike.
Mike has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame with a minor in Technology, Business and Society, and a Permaculture Design Certificate from the Center for Bioregional Living. After working low-level jobs in the food service industry he became interested in sustainable agriculture and social justice, gaining knowledge and experience working at a nonprofit farm and learning center in Worcester County, Massachusetts, where he met his wife Chelsea. He is co-founder of High Town Records and Regional Manager of the Interfaith Council of North Connecticut.
